Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

A quick and decisive response to an emergency by a qualified healthcare practitioner limits further injury and improves patient outcome.

ATA International offers a four-week theoretical and practical training program to empower and up-skill personnel in order to be holistically capable and competent Basic Life Support Practitioners (Emergency Medical Technicians – EMT-B).

Access level qualification

The Emergency Medical Technician Basic Life Support course is the access level qualification into the Emergency Medical Services. The course covers the entire spectrum of medical, trauma, cardiac, paediatric, obstetric, environmental and special patients at the appropriate level of care.

University of Johannesburg certification

We routinely host delegates in South Africa, and we are equally geared to present the course on-site in Africa. In such circumstances, successful candidates receive a University of Johannesburg certification. ATA International Training is the only provider accredited with the University to award international certification for this course.

On request, we often complement the EMT-B qualification with the additional inclusion of the American Heart Association’s BLS for Healthcare Providers™ course and the ITLS™ Southern Africa Chapter’s ITLS™ basic course (as endorsed by the American College of Emergency Physicians and National Association of EMS Physicians).

PET Program

This program may be enhanced by attending the four-week Practical Experiential Training Program in South Africa that is designed so as to re-enforce the theoretical aspects of the program, thereby ensuring that the Practitioner’s treatment capabilities are enhanced through exposure to carefully structured ‘real-life’ practical training under the guidance of suitably qualified mentors working at a world-class Emergency Medical Service.

Delegates wishing to further their career have the option of attending the University of Johannesburg certified EMT-Intermediate course at our Namibian training centre.
